シクローシュ (Siklos/HUN)

The castle in Hungary's most southerly town is one of the only medieval castles to avoid damage from conflicts with the Turks and Habsburgs. The foundations date to the 13th century, but several overhauls through the centuries gave it Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and especially Baroque features. After crossing the drawbridge, there is much to explore, including a museum, a Gothic chapel and the castle dungeon complete with torture chambers.T
he oldest part of the castle dates back to the 13th century. Some windows are from the Roman age; and the castle chapel was built between the 14th and 15th centuries. The castle houses a museum, now.
