アルメドバル・デル・リオ Castillo de Almodovar del Rio(cordoba/SPA)

In 1226 he was beheaded in Almodovar del Rio the Muslim king of Baeza, who was accused of treason by the Almohad by his alliance with Ferdinand III, king of Castile and Leon . Remained for five centuries under the influence of Islamic civilization, until the year 1240 was incorporated, by agreement, to the Crown of Castile during the reign of Ferdinand III, king of Castile and Leon, who conquered the city of Cordoba in 1236. In 1243 the town was given to the Council of Cordoba, remaining under its jurisdiction in the following centuries.
In 1394 he died in the castle of Almodovar del Rio, for he was a prisoner in it, Frederic de Castilla, illegitimate son of Henry II of Castile. The possession of the castle is linked in the fifteenth century the House of Baena and Goat. Also, its superb location and the contestability of the walls led to use as a residence of kings Peter I and Henry II, and as a prison, as evidenced by an order of the Royal Council (1491). By 1473 appears for the first time the name of Almodovar del Rio, a name with which you want to refer to its location on the banks of the Guadalquivir.
